Hello! Welcome to the 55 Plus Ski Club. If you’re a member, thank you, the site is here for you. If you’re thinking about becoming a member and are curious about the club, we are a ski club for people over 55 years of age, with most of our members coming from Central Pennsylvania and Maryland. Many but not all of us, call Roundtop our “home” ski resort.
Many of our members have joined the club hoping to find people to ski with. Our current president, Josh Hooper, has said, “It’s given me people to ski with— many of whom I’ve come to be good friends with both on and off the slopes... Perhaps you discover gratitude from the realization that you still get to experience the joy of skiing—and still have people with whom to share that experience.”
While the club started at Ski Roundtop in 1979 with nine members, we have grown to currently include about 150 members. We organize two six-day ski trips a year to Northeastern ski resorts, negotiating low room rates and (if the ski area isn’t an Epic pass area) we often provide lift tickets at a significant discount. For example, in a recent year we went to Okemo in January and Killington/Pico about a month later. In addition, we organize several luncheons in the winter and the summer. One club member has pointed out that, to him, one of the biggest club benefits may be going to Roundtop and knowing that on most days you’re going to run into a friend to ski with. More likely a number of friends.
